Elements of AI Online Study Group

Timeline: 5/13-7/15 Every Wednesday 12:15-13:30pm Taipei Time; (Tuesday 9:15-10:30pm San Francisco Time)

The Elements of AI is a series of free online courses created by Reaktor and the University of Helsinki. The purpose of this course is to encourage as broad a group of people as possible to learn what AI is, what can (and can’t) be done with AI, and how to start creating AI methods. The courses combine theory with practical exercises and can be completed at your own pace. https://www.elementsofai.com/

At Taipei Women in Tech, we’d like to stay connected with all the members/new friends globally. Meeting online not only gives us learning opportunities but also networking time to share what happened in different cities, our neighborhood, jobs and family. At each session, we invited a few volunteers to guide us through these chapters for an introduction of each course. We then spend the lunch hour to take a few exercise and share our learnings and lives under the pandemic period with global members.

Meet our volunteer coaches: *more to come*

  1. Kevin: Originally from Taiwan, now based in the US. He’s a Data Analyst at an E-commerce company in Chicago. Kevin has hands on experience on using data for business intelligence and building data engineering pipeline. He is familiar with digital fraud and payment in e-commerce, website analytics and digital marketing.
  2. Miriam: Based in Mexico City, Mexico. She is a college student studying Actuary. Her strength is mathematics, especially loves discrete mathematics, statistics and probability. She knows R and Python and want to learn more languages. She also is learning Chinese.
  3. Jane: Based in Taipei, Taiwan. Had work experience in finance and ecommerce industry. She runs a startup and a few non-profit communities for women in tech.
  4. Tracy(Ying) is based in Tauyuan, Taiwan. Her area of expertise is space and planetary science. She did some numerical modeling for her PhD which was related to ESA's mission. Now working on CubeSat mission design. AI & ML are now trending in the space domain. Also there is a lot of routine work for control centers on the ground and it's very expensive cause it's operated by human. So she think it will be essential for me to learn some AI and ML as that is the future for space missions. She loves traveling.
